Once in a while our efforts receive some recognition. It is not our goal to collect awards, but it always gratifying. In our first full year of operation, its is surprising how much attention our activities have received

Sainburys Hero Awards 2003

 - a scheme run by Sainsburys Superstores for their employees who engage in voluntary work. StreetChild's Chairman (a Sainsburys employee) received a £ 200 award for the charity.

- a new charitable initiative which is raising the profile of philanthropy in the UK, will shortly be awarding the Beacon Prize to individuals who are an inspiration to others in the way they give, be it time, money or expertise. StreetChild's Chairman received a 'Highly Commended' certificate

"In an almost impossibly difficult process, with many hundreds of outstanding nominations, Mr Carswell's achievements stood out as exceptional," commented Emily Stonor, Chief Executive of Beacon. "We congratulate all our highly commended candidates  reaching the final shortlist is a considerable mark of recognition for his achievement
